Jamaica Carnival 2009 cancellation confirmed

Sheila Lee, Byron's widow, said one of the reasons for the cancellation was Byron's death in November and the toll it has taken on the family.

"We really wanted to stage one (carnival) this year because we know that is what The Dragon (Byron) would have wanted, but the pain of our loss makes it impossible for us to do justice to his work," said Lee in a release sent to the media. "We promise to return in 2010 for the 21st anniversary of Jamaica Carnival," she added.[/quote]
